RULES FOR A HAPPY GYM

1. Be nice. Welcome newcomers, encourage other athletes, keep negativity out. We are all suffering together for a bigger purpose, and are here to be better humans, and support each other in the process.

2. Listen to your coach. He or she is there to guide you to safely getting to where you want to go. They have to balance your goals with your current abilities, and have the responsibility of being your encourager and they have your best interest in mind!

3. Listen to your body. Your coach knows what good movement should look like, but they do not live in your body. If things feel off and/or painful in a way that may lead to injury, let your coach know, and adjust your movement or intensity to the next best version.

4. Come to class…. even if you have an injury. The way to make fitness a part of your lifestyle is to set a scheduled number of times you want to come in, and stick to it. If you tweak something and feel like the WOD will only make it worse, our coaches are skilled at substituting movements and providing you with a workout that will make you more fit while avoiding further aggravation of your area of concern.

5. Pick up your equipment after class. No explanation necessary. Also, see #7

6. Try to be on time! If you are running late, we understand, but please be respectful of the class, and ask the coach if you can jump in, or if there is an abbreviated warm-up you can do to catch up.

7. Don’t drop the barbell when you’re stripping the plates, (or any time). SLIDE the plates off while holding up the end of the barbell! Dropping an empty bar leads to damage.

8. Wipe down equipment: If you’ve sweated on the equipment, bled on the equipment or cried on the equipment, wipe it down. We have microfiber cleaning cloths and spray bottles scattered around the gym for this purpose.

9. Don’t allow embarrassment or ego to drive your performance. We are all on different fitness journeys, and have different goals and lifestyles that affect our daily performances. should. It’s ok, even great, to be inspired to push beyond your comfort zone to catch someone in the wod, but ego gets us in trouble, and fear of embarrassment stops us from fully participating, falling short of our potential. Both of these mental states stem from caring how others see you. Just focus on making yourself proud.

10. Don’t break down your equipment until the last person is finished with the WOD. Encourage your classmates as they finish their last reps to reflect the team environment we have here.

11. Track your workouts and lifts in WODIFY. We pay for this service because we think it is important for us to have records of our progress and know our current PR’s so we can accurately assess our performances. Record every workout, so you will have a picture of your past efforts, progress and can set proper goals.
